Norwood
3070-CR Exterior Rated Multi-slide & Pocket Door System
The thermally broken panels of the
3070-cr give it exceptional energy advantages over his non-thermally broken
counterpart, the 3070-ex.
Conduction I: Aluminum
transfers energy very easily. This has wrongly been considered a negative trait
but the fact is that very little energy is lost through the frame material.
Other window materials absorb heat and cold into the frame, causing that
material to fail prematurely. One might say that aluminum is a more intelligent
window material in that it deals with such stress in a positive way by
releasing the energy that would normally cause material failure as it does in
vinyl and wood.
Conduction II: Aluminum is
thermally stable in that it does not swell and shrink when the temperature or
humidity levels change. The fact is that very little actual energy is lost
through the frame material but in the case of wood and vinyl (expand and
contract at high levels) MUCH energy is lost through the frame and vent seams.
Passive Solar Energy:
Because we have engineered our products for strength, larger sizes are
possible. Huge glass expanses not only accentuate your view but also welcome
more natural light into the room. The presence of more natural light is an
immediate saving on your energy bill.
Thwart
Leaks: We
offer numerous water performance choices and allow you to select the sill pan
height to meet your project’s needs. For more water performance you can specify
a deeper pan although many prefer the 3/4” pan height because of the “flush”
feature. Tell us your requirements and we will construct the door to meet those
needs.
Customizing
Operation: Because each panel can have its own track, you can create hundreds
of custom systems such as PXXXXX, OXXXXXO, PXXP, XXXXXXX, etc. Just ask your
dealer or contact Inside Sales at the factory to help you design your custom
system.
Saving More Money:
Larger doors mean more natural light, saving you money. If you choose one
of our higher performing glass systems the light is conditioned for greater
comfort. Destructive elements such as UV Rays are filtered out, which improves
your comfort and protects your flooring, furnishings and art.
Glare Concerns: Another added
benefit to selecting high performing glass is that glare is radically reduced,
allowing you to enjoy your view all the more. Our “spectrally selective low e glass”
is a great start and by adding tinted glass even more glare is repelled.
Thermally Enhanced: The “CR” is the only door
in its category to be offered with “thermally broken” panels. This feature is
ideal for extremely cold climates. For more information, review “Thermally
Broken 101” on this product page.
Preserving Art: Larger
windows mean more natural light, saving you money. If you choose one of our
higher performing glass systems the light is conditioned for greater comfort.
Destructive elements such as UV Rays are filtered out, which improves your
comfort and protects your flooring, furnishings and art.
Smarter Glass! A great deal of
interest has been directed at specialty glass such as "self
cleaning" and the latest "low e glazing" which allows more light
and less of the sun’s heat.
Energy Ratings: In
the Product section of our website we list several test results with varying
types of glass, from standard insulated glass to high performance glass.
Your “CR” door can be built with your
choice of thousands of colors and sizes.
Thousands Of Color Choices:
Every “CR” is available in four stock finishes. Our White is polyester
grade paint. Our Tan is a Kynar 500TM base paint. Our Clear Anodized
finish reveals the natural character of extruded aluminum and our Dark Bronze
Anodize is similar to a matte black finish. We encourage custom colors and
offer thousands of paint colors and a handful of earth tone custom anodized
choices. Our website offers more information on colors and the difference in
paint and anodizing.
Custom Sizes: Every “CR” is
made to order and custom sizes are encouraged.
How Large Can You Make A “CR”? We
LOVE architects and designers for many reasons. At the top of the list is their
relentless challenge for Fleetwood to make products bigger. A common “CR” panel
is 4’ wide by 9’ tall but we are providing door panels as tall as 10’ and door
panels as wide as 5’.
Fleetwood designs detail into each of our
products because we firmly believe that discriminating customers appreciate
these “little things”.
Fit & Finished: We have gone to
great lengths to make the appearance of this door exceptional. We provide things
other doors think are a waste of money, such as: Pocket Closers, Jamb Closers,
Head Closers, and Sill Closers. These “small things” complete the
package.
Stout
Screen Frame: So many other doors are provided with a flimsy screen. Our
standard screen is the best sliding screen door made, period! Why?
Because we use the same parts as we do on the glass panels.
Same Great Hardware As “EX”:
Like the 3070-EX, the 3070-CR is offered with the Archetype Hardware.
Precision Bearing Rollers:
The MAMMOTH roller comes standard with authentic precision bearings. Many
doors claim “precision” but only Fleetwood partners with a Switzerland based
manufacturer that specializes in precision bearings.
Easily Sustained
An enduring trademark of every Fleetwood products is
longevity. This was not an accident.
Vermin Resistant: When
consideration is being made for the type of doors you want for your home;
rodents, termites and vermin (especially the human variety) are often not factored
into the decision. Invaders can easily destroy wood or vinyl but our 6063-T6
extrusions are vermin and termite resistant.
Fasteners: We only provide
stainless steel installation screws so the finished product remains attractive
despite the harshest environments. Many brands save time and money by skimping
in this area. Steel fasteners are harder and thus easier to work with BUT they
will rust, whereas stainless steel is resistant to corrosion.
Stainless Steel: The Norwood
3070-CR consists only of the highest-grade stainless steel rollers and latch
assemblies. As well, we only use stainless steel fasteners to attach these
components to the aluminum framing and we only provide stainless steel
installation screws.
Track Finish Protection:
Our door threshold design is unique in many aspects, one of which is its built
in protection against damage. Notice that the stainless steel track insert sits
a little higher than the aluminum sill, protecting the finish from damage
caused by foot traffic and daily wear and tear. Other door manufacturers
provide a different color sill to mask such damage but Fleetwood’s beauty
extends all the way to the floor.
Replaceable Stainless Steel Track:
Most every other door on the market cuts corners when it comes to the rollers
and the track. Our doors roll on a heavy guage stainless steel insert.
This optimizes operation because the convex relationship of the track fits
perfectly with the concavity of the wheel. Most other manufacturers have an
aluminum sill and strap on a thin cap. Like most short cuts, this cap will
deform and eventually come off.
Complete Package: The
Norwood 3070-CR is most likely NOT the only window & door product for your
house. We present many fixed and operable windows to compliment the “CR”. This has
many benefits of course, one of which is that it simplifies warranty issues
because you are only dealing with one manufacturer. So we encourage you to make
sure our dealer is only providing a complete Fleetwood package. Make sure your
products are factory glazed.
Minimal Care: Fleetwood has
published a simple set of procedures to ensure the long life of your Fleetwood
doors and windows. It is readily available from the Homeowners section
of our website.
The “CR” was created so that timeless
architecture would be accentuated.
Sleek: Our standard
interlockers are 2-1/8” yet strong enough to handle heights up to 14’ tall.
Simple Shapes: The “CR”
verticals draw attention away from the product and toward the home designs and
the view.
Strong: Strength and beauty
are demonstrated by Fleetwood’s unique ability to produce HUGE doors. For
example, the “CR” is commonly built in 5’ wide by 10’ tall panels. This amounts
to a sliding panel that weighs close to 400 lbs, yet rolls with a pinky touch.
Insulated Glass Spacer:
Our standard spacer is a dark bronze anodized color. Other products use a
silver spacer, which reflects light as a mirror and is often distracting.
Consider a few features of the Norwood
3070-CR that merge power, Beauty and ease of operation.
Tighter Interlockers:
Notice how the interlockers on all Fleetwood doors “wedge” into each other?
This makes a rattle free union. Cheaper models rely solely on the “brush”
weather-stripping. This causes more noise and air infiltration because the
“brush” wears out.
Weather-stripping Balance:
In window and door manufacturing there is a balance that must be maintained
with the type, size and quantity of weather-stripping. The Series 3070-CR is
perfectly balanced. Too much and the door is hard to operate. Too little
weather-stripping and the door rolls well but does not keep out water and wind
effectively.
Unique Track Design:
If you will take the time to study the roller track you will see a unique
design. Our track is a solid aluminum base that receives a heavy gauge
stainless steel insert. Cheaper designs offer an aluminum runner and a metal
cap. Our track will last longer, can handle more weight and is easily replaced.
Air Leakage Part I:
Wood and vinyl swell and shrink as the weather changes. And like an old house
they can creak and groan. DO NOT be fooled by those windows/doors that tout
“U-value = energy efficiency.” To understand the u-value test is to know that
it is a misleading rating.
Air Leakage Part II:
Were you aware that during the test all weep holes, seams, etc are sealed shut?
No wonder wood and vinyl perform so well in this “test” because only material
is tested and not the product. Real conditions cause expansion and contraction,
which allows energy to come right through the frame. Aluminum has infinitesimal
movement during weather change, which causes it to be efficient year in and
year out.
Being
concerned about the world we live in should affect every person’s lifestyle.
When Fleetwood is the builder’s choice, the owners profit as well as the earth.
Coated With Logic:
We offer two types of finishes on our aluminum windows and doors: paint and anodizing.
Both processes result in environmentally safe products that do not require
refinishing. Because Fleetwood products are factory finished
for life, you need only keep them clean. Can you imagine how much toxic
waste would be prevented if everyone chose aluminum? See the inside cover of
our brochure for more information regarding painting and anodizing.
Sustainable Design:
Aluminum is a fantastic building product for those concerned about
sustainability. It is naturally plentiful and perpetually surviving
(recyclability). Moreover, aluminum rates very high in Life Cycle Assessment
and leaves a small ecological footprint.
Made Of Recycled Metal:
Every aluminum window and door is made up of components (rollers, latches,
weather-stripping...) as well as extrusions and glass. These extrusions
are comprised of virgin aluminum and, on average, 40% - 50% of post consumer
aluminum to provide the world with products whose supply is nearly unlimited.
Stop VOCs: Volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) are chemical compounds that outgass from many materials and
can pollute the air in your home. Since Fleetwood’s painted finishes are
factory cured at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, these compounds are safely removed.
Neither wood nor vinyl can provide factory baked coatings.
Environmentally Preferred:
Because aluminum is a relatively lightweight building product, we can ship our
windows and doors all over the world with little logistical waste. Even better,
our windows and doors are created in such a way that far reaching markets can
purchase glass locally and avoid the glass transit costs.
No Deforestation: Aluminum is an
abundant resource. In fact, about 8% of the earth's crust consists of
aluminum bauxite. This bountiful supply exceeds global demands and
because of its recyclable nature, aluminum is the material for the
next century. Additionally, 94% of the world’s supply of bauxite is mined
in non-forested regions minimizing global environmental impact.
Lasts Longer: All windows and
doors eventually must be replaced BUT aluminum windows and doors last
decades longer than wood and vinyl. Consider the impact on the world's
landfills with all the wood and vinyl waste. As well, imagine the wasted
energy on redundant manufacturing of short-lived wood and vinyl windows and doors.
Friendlier To Firemen:
If a fire were to occur in your home your aluminum would not emit toxic
fumes. Other window products incinerate quickly and add to the flames but
only windows and doors made from metal will not burn. Also, vinyl
products are petroleum based and therefore a great fire hazard and emit
toxic fumes. In fact, some rural communities prohibit vinyl
window products. Ask any firefighter which windows he prefers for his home.
This product is not fire rated.
Constructed With Recycled Glass: In
addition to the high percentage of recycled aluminum used on all Fleetwood
products, the glass we use is made of bountiful ingredients such as silica
sand. Our suppliers also melt down remnants and glass scrap for future use.
Remnants Recycled:
Manufacturing produces waste destined for the world’s landfills. 100% of our
aluminum remnants are collected and melted down to make new windows and
doors. This severely reduces energy
input because aluminum production from scrap uses 95% less energy and limits
the waste stream.
Keeping your home safe should be the most important
design consideration.
Security Benefits:
Because Fleetwood endeavors to make its products better instead of cheaper; we
can provide specialty products that others should not. The best glass for
high-security is laminated glass. It is two sheets of glass sandwiched to a
polyvinyl interlayer, just like your car windshield which must withstand severe
impact for your safety. Unless our competitors have an operating system equal
to Fleetwood, they should not attempt heavier glass.
Hurricane Glazing:
The Norwood 3070-CR is offered with factory glazed hurricane resistant glass.
This specialty glazing is made with a thicker interlayer than standard
laminated glass. This interlayer was designed to resist a wood missile
impacting at 50’ per second.
Noise Control: Some homes are
located in areas where the ambient sounds are wanted. In some cases however,
exterior noises such as traffic are best if kept out. We offer all of our
products with sound abatement glazing.
